SPADES MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT
R.I.P. 1963-2015
Developed in 1923 as a camp lookout, a 50' pole tower with 7x7' cab was built in 1926. A log cabin was added for living quarters in 1928. In 1941, a 54' steel tower was built. An L-4 cab was added for living quarters in the late 1940's. The steel tower was moved to Long Mtn. Lookout in 1963, replaced by the present 67' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab, which had not been staffed since the 1970's. Suffering from years of continued heavy vandalism, the tower was torn down in July 2015.
