Established in 1921 with a log cupola cabin, the present 10' concrete base topped with an R-6 flat cab, built in 1962 1 mile south of the summit, is cooperatively staffed by the Lolo National Forest and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.
