| YAAK MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT | |
|---|---|
Yaak has been the home of several lookout structures, beginning in 1914 as a camp lookout, then a 45' pole platform in 1915, a frame cupola cabin about 1919, and a 50' pole tower with L-6 cab along with log cabin living quarters in the 1930's. The present 41' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab was built in 1958 and has been staffed sporadically in recent years. Road access has been sealed off to protect grizzly bear habitat. |
