MOUNT BONAPARTE LOOKOUT
Establish in 1914 with a 12x12' slant-walled cabin (still there) and 15' covered platform, a 16' wooden tower with Region 5 cab replaced it in 1930. The present 20' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab, built in 1961, is staffed every summer. It, along with the original 1914 cabin, are listed on the National Historic Lookout Register and the 1914 cabin is on the National Register of Historic Places. The R-6 tower received extensive maintenance in the 2000s including the addition of a hip roof. Known lookout personnel: 1923: Sidney Swain; 1929: B. Forrester; 1952: William Foote.
