A 3-legged 60' wooden tower with 7x7' cab and an accompanying L-4 cab for living quarters (still there) were built here in 1938 1/4 mile northeast of the current lookout. The present 53' all-steel live-in tower, built sometime during the 1960's, is staffed every summer.
